Harald Malmgren died last month. He was a serious man, who served as advisor to four presidents – Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon and Ford. He became an advisor to President Kennedy in 1962, just before the Cuban Missile Crisis, when Malmgren was just 28.
Malmgren was in the room when JFK was discussing how to react to Soviet Russia’s missiles in Cuba, and Airforce Chief of Staff Curtis LeMay was pushing for an all-out nuclear assault on the USSR. This would have resulted in anything from 600 million dead to, possibly, ‘omnicide’ – everyone dead through a nuclear winter. The young Malmgren was told by the president to keep asking difficult questions to slow the generals down. ‘Where would we bomb first?’ ‘Moscow of course.’ ‘Then who would we negotiate with?’
What he saw during those days gave him a lifelong urge to work for global peace and nuclear disarmament, and apparently when he died the nurses thought he was hallucinating as he kept mentioning the need to contact Putin to negotiate about nukes. In fact, he had known Putin since 1992.
In 2018, Malmgren got cancer and the illness stopped him working or travelling. His daughter – the economist Dr Pippa Malmgren, herself an advisor to the White House – encouraged him to join Twitter as a way to keep communicating.
Last year, Malmgren started dropping bombs of his own. He would occasionally tweet about his and the US government’s knowledge of UAPs, Non-Human Intelligence and recovered artefacts – they existed, and it was time for this knowledge to be made public. He seems to have become more and more focused on this in his final year, and his daughter has also risked her credibility to bring attention to this issue on her Substack and in documentaries – quite unusual for a former member of the White House Economic Council. They both seem to think now is the time for disclosure of long-held secrets, as do other senior figures in the US establishment.
Harald Malmgren made intriguing references to one particular encounter of his own with a non-human artefact, involving the Bluegill missile test of June 2nd 1962. According to his daughter, Harald gave a seven-hour interview on this topic to a podcast, American Alchemy, about what he knew. The next day, he was taken to hospital for pneumonia, where he died. The podcast hasn’t been released yet, but his daughter has shared his story in a couple of extraordinary Substack posts.
If you’re into this topic, you should pay $25 to subscribe to Pippa’s Substack and read them in full. I’m going to give a brief summary and follow some of Pippa’s leads, before talking about how we should assess these kinds of weird stories as they increasingly come into the mainstream.
Harald Malmgren claimed that the Bluegill missile test knocked something out the sky – a large white flying orb of non-human origin – which the Pentagon recovered. The US Military was apparently familiar with these sorts of unidentified orbs flying around their craft in strange ways – in World War Two they were called ‘foo fighters’. In the 1960s, they were called ‘tagalongs’. The Pentagon is still tracking these orbs by the way – in 2023, Dr Sean Fitzpatrick, head of the Pentagon’s All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office, told Congress: ‘We see these [metallic orbs] all over the world, and we see these making very interesting apparent maneuvers’. He showed a video of one such orb flying around in Mosul during the second Iraq war. They seem to monitor human conflicts and weapons systems.
In June 1962, according to Harald Malmgren, the missile test knocked one of these orbs out of the sky (possibly through high energy X-Ray transmissions), and it fell into the sea and was recovered by a US Navy ship. Apparently it left a radiation imprint on the ship. There is some documentation supporting this claim, shared here by an Australian independent journalist and former intelligence official called Geoff Cruickshank, including video footage of the tests and deck logs from the Navy ships tasked with retrieving the debris.
Harald Malmgren says he encountered material from this ‘tagalong’. His daughter Pippa writes:
My Dad said it was the first time “we knocked a “tagalong” out of the sky.” It was historic. So, he flew out to Albuquerque to be briefed by the Head of the Atomic Energy Commission, Lawrence Gise, (Jeff Bezos’s Grandfather) who apparently received materials from the crashed craft. He kept them on his desk, handed them to my Dad, and then asked him to describe how he felt. Dad said a voice began talking to him inside his head. That’s all Gise wanted to know. Dad never recalled or would not say what that voice said. Apparently, he said, some people interact with the materials, and others don’t.
President Kennedy and his vice-president LBJ flew out to Los Alamos in December 1962 – it was very unusual for them to travel together – and according to the Malmgrens this was in order to be briefed on the recovered ‘tagalong’,
Dr Pippa suggests that this and other recovered non-human artefacts were later kept at Wright-Patterson Airbase – General Curtis LeMay’s base. She writes:
It seems odd how [LeMay] responded to Barry Goldwater, his great friend from WWII, when he asked to see Wright Patterson. Remember that Goldwater had been an ace pilot during WWII…[and] went on to run for the Presidency in 1964. LeMay was one of his advisors. He recounted the tale of his run-in with his old friend LeMay on Larry King Live and elsewhere, saying, “I think the government does know. I can't back that up, but I think that at Wright-Patterson field, if you could get into certain places, you'd find out what the Air Force and the government knows about UFOs ... I called Curtis LeMay and I said, 'General, I know we have a room at Wright-Patterson where you put all this secret stuff. Could I go in there?' I've never heard him get mad, but he got madder than hell at me, cussed me out, and said, 'Don't ever ask me that question again!”
You could put forward a theory that the Deep State arose in the post-war era partly to manage society and especially to manage secrets – nuclear secrets, espionage secrets, but also UAP secrets. Call it ‘managed weirdness’. Weird, inexplicable, anomalous, impossible things occur, and the Deep State – the Pentagon and CIA – hides these things from public view, so it can defend US security, also perhaps to preserve the illusion of the state’s knowledge and control of reality, and also because it feels it can’t trust the White House and Congress, who are just corrupt politicians passing through.
Occasionally, something threatens the Deep State’s control and needs to be managed.
Dr Pippa then shares a wild theory, apparently held by her father, that JFK was assassinated by a conspiracy involving the Pentagon and CIA leadership and ex-leadership, because he had got ideas above his station, about nuclear disarmament, executive control of the CIA, and the right of the President and Congress to know what the Deep State knew and did, about Russia, Cuba, UAPs or anything else. She also speculates that JFK had become a leaky vessel, and was talking state secrets to his many mistresses, including Marilyn Monroe and Mary Pinchot (a painter and the ex-wife of senior CIA agent Cord Meyer), and potentially even tripping with Mary Pinchot.
Mary, a bohemian artist with deep connections to the DC establishment, was - according to Timothy Leary - trying to set up a network of psychedelic-guide DC women to awaken powerful men to a less violent future. It did not end well.
